YOKUU comes from the word "shinrin-yoku", a Japanese therapy where people are sent to the forest for its beneficial effects. Literally, it means 'forest bathing'. YOKUU brings a piece of nature back into the home and allows people to bathe in the good bacteria inside.

Why the name YOKUU?
What is special about YOKUU?
Our active products contain probiotics. Probiotics are living micro-organisms from nature that can work miracles when it comes to cleansing.
The bacteria remain active on the surface after application and continuously break down grease, dirt and odour for up to seven days. This means that dirt particles remain removed for several days even after cleaning.
Probiotic products clean the surface and not only leave a visibly cleaner result, but are also effective against odours. This deep cleaning process is called microscopic cleaning, because probiotics reach into the smallest joints.
After dissolving the YOKUU products and applying them to the surface, they restore the natural microbiological balance and create a human-friendly microflora.
On which materials can I use YOKUU?
Our Multi-Purpose Cleaner, Floor Cleaner and Glass Cleaner are 100% safe for any type of surface. Only our Bathroom Cleaner, which is a little more acidic, should not be used on calciferous stones such as marble.
Can I spray YOKUU onto textiles?
You can do that with our Multi-Purpose Cleaner. You can do that, for example, to remove odour or stains from textiles. Just spray a few times and let it soak in. Odours disappear very quickly, but for stains our bacteria need a bit more time. If the stain has not been removed the first time, just repeat!
Can it be used as a disinfectant?
Chemical disinfectants are intended to eliminate all types of bacteria. This can lead to the creation of harmful and resistant bacterial strains, so-called "superbugs". Studies show that these super bacteria can lead to long-term adverse effects on both the environment and our health. YOKUU does not kill, but rather introduces good bacteria that nestle in your living environment and provide long-term protection from filth.
Can I add my own scent to YOKUU?
You can add essential oils to the YOKUU solution for extra fragrance. Our bacteria continue to work just as effectively!
Is YOKUU safe for child/animal/food?
Yes, our finished products are completely hazard-free. No danger signs on our products. Of course, they are used to clean surfaces. They are not really tasty.
Our bacteria have been checked for food safety by recognised authorities. No problem to clean your kitchen sink with YOKUU.
All our bacteria are harvested from natural landscapes. So no genetically modified micro-organisms!
How long does YOKUU last? What is the best way to store YOKUU?
The pearls remain good for two years in the bag. Once dissolved, the solution is good for three months. Our products can best be stored dry in an aluminium box. Do not use rainwater, but tap water!
Can I put the spray in the dishwasher?
No, because then the bottle will break! In between beads, you can rinse the bottle with lukewarm water.
Do you have product certificates?
YOKUU has the V label (vegan label). Our formula is completely free from animal ingredients.
YOKUU is a member of '1% for planet'. Every year, we donate 1% of our turnover to charity! In addition, we support organisations that promote biodiversity and sustainable forest management.
Unfortunately, YOKUU does not have the EU Ecolabel because our product is not a ready-to-use solution (due to our soluble products). Innovation is sometimes faster than legislation 😉 .
Are the pearls produced locally?
The YOKU products are developed in Belgium, by the founder Joris Jansen, and produced in the Netherlands. All our ingredients are produced in the EU.
Is your packaging ecological?
Our pearls are wrapped in 100% paper. You can therefore dispose of our paper wrappers with the old paper. Our plastic bottles are made of high quality plastic, so they stand for a long life.

What countries do you ship to?
Today we ship to all countries within the EU:
- Within Belgium, shipping costs €4.5, with free shipping from €30.
- To the Netherlands shipping costs €7, with free shipping from €30.
- To the rest of Europe a shipping cost of €10 applies.
Unfortunately, shipping outside the EU is not possible at the moment.
