Founder Joris isolates the bacteria from nature

Currently, we use five different strains of bacteria in YOKUU products. Each product contains a unique mix. Founder Joris continues to search the forests for new strains.

What other ingredients do you find in our products?

Citric acid

  • Origin? 100% Natural
  • What is it? As the name suggests, you can find citric acid in citrus fruits, but it is also in some vegetables such as tomatoes and lettuce. Citric acid is a natural preservative and antioxidant. It has many different applications, including in food (bread, wine) and cosmetics.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? Our citric acid plays a dual role: it is used for its natural cleansing power and to make your pearl effervescent. It does the latter hand-in-hand with our baking soda. These two ingredients ensure that your product dissolves quickly.

Baking soda

  • Origin? 100% Natural
  • What is it? Baking soda (or Sodium Bicarbonate) is a mineral that occurs naturally in rock. It is a multifunctional powder, has a cleaning effect and has a degreasing, deacidifying and descaling effect, among others.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? Like citric acid, we use baking soda for its natural cleaning power and to make your pearl effervescent. The latter goes hand-in-hand with our citric acid. These two ingredients ensure that your product dissolves quickly.

Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate

  • Origin? 100% Natural
  • What is it? Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (also known as "SLS", or "Sulfuric acid") is a surfactant, or a substance that can be used in combination with water to dissolve oil and grease. It is often found in toothpaste, for example, to create a little foam.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate is in our products as an active ingredient to get rid of caked on dirt and grease. It enhances the degreasing effect alongside our good bacteria.

Sodium sulphate

  • Origin? 100% Natural
  • What is it? Sodium sulphate powder is used in foods as an acidity regulator and anti-caking agent.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? Sodium sulphate is only in our Floor cleaner. Why? To avoid lumps and to make it as easy as possible for you to measure out a teaspoon.

Potassium sorbate

  • Origin? Synthetic
  • What is it? Potassium sorbate is an agent that is added to food as a preservative, as it inhibits the growth of fungi. You may find it under the E number E202 in your beverage, cheese or Stevia product. You can find potassium sorbate naturally in the berries of the mountain ash, but in most products (as with YOKUU) this has now become a synthetic agent.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? Potassium sorbate is used as a preservative, so that your dissolved YOKUU products will last for at least three months, and you can use them for a long time.

Perfume

  • Origin? Synthetic
  • What is it? A mix of fragrances to give a fresh scent to our products. A fruity scent (lemon, apricot, peach, lime) with a mix of white flowers and spices.
  • Why is it in YOKUU? To create a fresh scent experience while cleaning with YOKUU. The smell is minimal, so that people with allergies or chemical sensitivity will not be bothered by it.
